  • SuggestedLeadIn: Chung Mong-joon denies wrong-doing amidst a FIFA Ethics Committee investigation, but could face a 15 year suspension if found guilty

Script: SOUNDBITE: (Korean) Chung Mong-joon, FIFA Presidential Candidate (denying any wrongdoing amid a FIFA ethics investigation over over charitable donations)

"Unlike FIFA president Mr. Blatter, Secretary General of FIFA Mr. Valcke and UEFA President Mr. Platini, I am not facing any allegations of bribery, fraud, corruption, or conflict of interest. Contrary to the media speculation based on leaks, FIFA has never tried to open an investigation over charitable donations that I made to Haiti and Pakistan in the past. In addition to Haiti and Pakistan, I have made numerous personal donations to many countries starting from 1999 including Turkey, Bangladesh, China and Myanmar."

SOUNDBITE: (Korean) Chung Mong-joon, FIFA Presidential Candidate (denying his Global Football Fund was used to buy votes for South Korea's 2022 World Cup bid)

"There was nothing unusual about Global Football Fund. The Global Football Fund was perfectly in line with the football development projects that FIFA asked every bidding country to propose as part of their bid requirement. No money or personal favors were exchanged in relation to Global Football Fund and no such charges were made against me."

SOUNDBITE: (Korean) Chung Mong-joon, FIFA Presidential Candidate (saying he is being targeted by FIFA over his candidacy for president and criticism of Sepp Blatter)

"Ultimately, I will be vindicated and (I will) strive to prevail. But if the Ethics Committee (of FIFA) uses such tactics and completely ignores due process and fair process, I think justice will not be served at this Ethics Committee hearing and there is a possibility that my candidacy will be jeopardized. If we consider this case objectively, the true danger is that they won't stop at sabotaging only my candidacy, but also destroying FIFA's presidential election and FIFA itself."
