British rider Tai Woffinden has won his second Speedway World Championship title in three seasons.

The 25-year-old from Scunthorpe secured the title at the Polish Grand Prix in Torun, despite failing to make the semi-finals.

The only man who could prevent the Team GB captain claiming the title, Greg Hancock, trailed in last position in the first semi-final, handing the crown to Woffinden.

The Wolverhampton Wolves asset has been dominant throughout the series and can now relax going into the final Grand Prix in Melbourne later this month.

Woffinden lifted his maiden trophy in 2013 and becomes the only Briton to win the series world title two times.

Dane Nicki Pedersen triumphed on the night in northern Poland on the Vistula River but it was England who made waves; Leicester's Jason Doyle claiming second ahead of Poole Pirates captain Maciej Janowski in third.
