Pakistan captain considering Test retirement

Sunday, October 04 2015 by SNTV
  • Pakistan continued their preparations on Friday (2nd October) for the Test series against England, due to be held in the United Arab Emirates.

    Script:

Veteran Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq is thinking about quitting Test cricket and this month's three-match series in the United Arab Emirates against England could be his last .

Misbah has already retired from Twenty20 and also stepped down from ODIs after Pakistan couldn't progress beyond the quarterfinals at the World Cup this year.

Pakistan defeated England 3-0 in their last test series in the UAE in 2012, but Misbah refuses to be complacent ahead of facing Alastair Cook's men:

SOUNDBITE: (Urdu) Misbah Ul-Haq, captain of Pakistan:

"This team (England) performed well in the Ashes, but obviously it will be difficult for them - it is an inexperienced squad, they have not played a lot of cricket in these conditions, this will be a challenge for them. Still on our end we will have to play good cricket."

Misbah, who scored Test cricket's fastest century against Australia last year in the UAE, will be forming a batting nucleus along with Azhar Ali, Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq, who all played in the 2012 series against England.

And should Misbah decide to call time on his Test cricket career, he'll be hoping to do so on a high with a defeat of England.
