  • Spain's Feliciano López and compatriot David Ferrer reach the Malaysian Open final after respective defeats of Nick Kyrgios and Benjamin Becker.

    Script:

Spainiard Feliciano Lopez beat Nick Kyrgios 7-6 7-6 to reach the Malaysian Open final.

The Australian was aggressive both in and out of rallies but Lopez proved his equal. A scintillating single-handed backhand clinching the opening set.

But among the power play Kyrgios showed some lighter touches in the second. After visiting sick children at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur this week, the match was anything but child's play for Lopez.

Again the world number 41 charged towards the net but again Lopez unleashed a devastating cross-court backhand.

The second seed prevailing to set-up a clash against compatriot David Ferrer in Sunday's final.

The top seed came from a set down to defeat Benjamin Becker 3-6 6-2 6-4.

The result leaves the German still searching for a win against the world number eight, having lost in their only previous meeting at the US Open five years ago.

As for Lopez, it's been six years since the world number 17 last overcame Ferrer, while the former construction worker will be hoping to build on this impressive record in Sunday's showpiece.
