Ukrainian league pace setters Shakhtar Donetsk played host to lowly Chornomorets on Saturday.

The match was played at the Lviv Arena due to ongoing safety concerns at Shakhtar's home stadium, the Donbass.

It took Shakhtar just eight minutes to get ahead, with the first goal scored from a penalty kick.

Chornomorets keeper Evgen Borovyk upended Shakhtar midfielder Viktor Kovalenko en route to goal, with the referee awarding the spot-kick without hesitation.

Brazilian forward Alex Teixeira coolly rifled in the penalty for a 1-0 lead.

Shakhtar held onto that lead into the second half and, securing a second goal in the 49th minute.

Brazilian playmaker Bernard flighted in a hopeful cross - which took a deflection - and bounced in off the chest of the fortuitous Teixeira.

It ended 2-0 to Shakhtar, thanks to Texeira's brace. They lead the standings, level on 25 points with Dynamo Kyiv but - for now at least - ahead on goal difference.
