Wenger: 'Olympiacos have more time to prepare for Champions League'

  • SuggestedLeadIn: Arsene Wenger and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain spoke on Monday (28th September) about their upcoming UEFA Champions League Group F game against Olympiacos.

Script: SOUNDBITE (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager (on Olympiacos):

"Olympiacos dominate their league. They have a big advantage because they easily dominate their league at the moment so they can prepare for these kind of games. They know how to compete in the Champions League, they are well organised and they have some players who know the Premier League as well. (Esteban) Cambiasso played and (Pajtim) Kasami played in England so they know what the Premier League is about."

SOUNDBITE (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager ( on team selection changes after their Champions League defeat):

"I don't believe it's down to selection at all. I believe the 20 field players I have available can play in every single game. I could close my eyes, just take a position and I'd be confident we'd have a very strong team. On the day it was basically the same team played at Tottenham and won in the league cup, in a much more difficult game physically. I think it was just on the night we didn't play well."

SOUNDBITE (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager (on this being an important match):

"You have to win your home games if you want to qualify in the group stage. It's as simple as that. We have an opponent, we cannot afford to drop points now against anybody at home."
