The European Open reached its climax at Bad Griesbach in Germany on Sunday.

The course was designed by Bernhard Langer, and he closed with a two under par final round of 69, finishing in a tie for 24th.

Graeme Storm was one of three men a shot behind overnight leader Thongchai Jaidee at the start of the day.

A fifth birdie of the day followed his second shot into the 15th, taking him to 17-under and into the lead.

But a dropped shot at 17 took the Englishman back to 16-under for the tournament, and opened the door for Jaidee.

Birdies at the third and ninth took Jaidee out in 33, and two more birdies at the 12th and 15th restored him to the lead at 17-under.

The leaders approach at 18 left him short, and he faced a nerve jangling eight-foot putt to prevent a play-off with Storm.

Jaidee made no mistake and claimed his seventh title on the European Tour by one shot, and at 45, he became the oldest winner on the Tour this year and the oldest winner of the European Open, eclipsing Colin Montgomerie's victory at the K Club in 2007.
