Pan Pacific Open: Bencic books Radwańska final

Sunday, September 27 2015 by SNTV
  • Belinda Bencic stuns top seed Caroline Wozniacki 6-2 6-4 in the Pan Pacific Open semi-finals in Tokyo, Japan. The world number 15's opponent in Sunday's final will be Agnieszka Radwańska, who overcame Dominika Cibulková 6-4-6-1.

    Script:

World number 15 Belinda Bencic caused an upset by beating top seed Caroline Wozniacki 6-2 6-4 in the Pan Pacific Open semi-finals.

18-year-old Bencic may be nine places below Wozniacki but the Swiss has now tasted victory against her Danish opponent four times in a row.

Bencic is developing a reputation for giant killing, having knocked out eight top ten players this year.

Amidst the neon-lit streetscapes of Japan's capital, the Rogers Cup champion will break into the top ten herself for the first time if she puts her name in lights in Sunday's final.

One woman who'll have something to say about that is Agnieszka Radwańska.

The Pole defeating Dominika Cibulková 6-4-6-1 in the second last four clash.

While Bencic is striving for her third trophy this season, Radwańska hasn't won a WTA Tour title in over a year.

The pair have only played each other once before; Bencic triumphing in three sets on the grass court of Eastbourne in June.
