SOUNDBITE (English) Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Rome 2024 Olympic bid committee chairman:

"Just to give you an idea, we are at the beginning of course. What we try to do is to put together modernity, new areas for the town as Tor Vergata, existing venues like Fiera di Roma, and again remember that is August. And historic place like the Foro Romano. Then, going back to the town, we will made very good agreement with the ecologist, with the university. So we will have students for volunteers, students for technology start-ups, because in 2024 paper it will be finished. Because I don't want to present the town that put in the window only history and past. So we will universities that will work a lot with us."

SOUNDBITE (English) Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Rome 2024 Olympic bid committee chairman:

"I want to emphasise that 70 per cent of the venues are ready or just need minor upgrading. Seventy per cent".

SOUNDBITE (English) Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Rome 2024 Olympic bid committee chairman:

"The marathon can be inside the Vatican, then in front of a huge mosque, (Italian) Piazza San Pietro (St Peter's Square), then Via Della Conciliazione, then we have the synagogue on the other side of the river, the oldest synagogue in Europe. And then we go to the mosque, beautiful. So we do a path for peace in the world. And then we end in the Foro Romano".
