    Andy Murray took Great Britain through to a first Davis Cup final since 1978 with victory over Australia's Bernard Tomic in Glasgow.

    The British number one secured the decisive third point with a comprehensive 7-5 6-3 6-2 win.

    It gave Britain an unassailable 3-1 lead in the best-of-five tie, setting up a final against Argentina or Belgium.

    Britain last won the Davis Cup in 1936, with a team led by Fred Perry.

    November's final will be a home tie against Argentina or away against Belgium, with the venue to be decided.

    28-year-old Murray teamed up with his brother, Jamie, in a five-set victory over Sam Groth and Lleyton Hewitt on Saturday.

    The Scot following up victory against Thanasi Kokkinakis on Friday.

    Great Britain last won the international men's team competition 79 years ago, when Perry, Bunny Austin, Patrick Hughes and Raymond Tuckey defeated Australia 3-2.
