Running a marathon is a tall order but few races reach these heights: 330 metres high to be precise at a Chinese hotel.

The third edition of the Beijing Vertical Run was won by defending champion Piotr Lobodzinski; the Pole climbing the 82 floors in an event record nine minutes, 53 seconds.

SOUNDBITE (English) Piotr Lobodzinski, champion, 2015 Beijing Vertical Race:

"It was really tough after I finish, and I was really exhausted, happy but exhausted, even now I feel a little sick. I have running nose, so it means it was a very tough race for me, but I am also very happy with my time, I am sure it was below 10 minutes but not sure whether it is a new cross record, maybe it is the same like 9 minutes 55 seconds or maybe one or two seconds faster."

In the women's category, Australian Suzy Walsham flew up the 2,041 steps at the China World Summit Wing Hotel in a time of 11 minutes and 52 seconds to claim victory at this venue for the second successive year.

SOUNDBITE (English) Suzy Walsham, champion, 2015 Beijing Vertical Race:

"It was an honour to come here two years ago and win the first race ever, never expect to win three in a row, so I am thrilled and today we've been blessed with beautiful view, so as always very nice to finish and have a nice view."

The next stop on the Vertical World Circuit is Shanghai next month.
