The opening ceremony for the 2015 Solheim Cup between Europe and the United States of America took place on Thursday (17 September) at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club in Germany.

Script: The opening ceremony for the 2015 Solheim Cup between Europe and the United States of America took place on Thursday with plenty of passion and colour from both sets of teams. Both captains spoke during the evening and then announced who their opening pairs would be:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Juli Inkster, USA captain:

"When I was asked to be captain of the Solheim Cup I couldn't wait to get started. It has been everything I thought it would be and more. The best part of this journey is being alongside my team (applause)."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Carin Koch, Europe captain:

"My players come from different backgrounds and the Solheim Cup bring them together to a team that has the unique opportunity to represent this great continent - Europe. Everybody on this team will make memories for life, and as a captain it is very fulfilling to see them together in unity, harmony and lots of laughter... and I'm sure that will show in their games this weekend (applause)."

Event host: For the United States, Juli - who's up first?

Juli Inkster: "We have Morgan Pressel and Paula Creamer."
