Script: SOUNDBITE (English) Mario Andrada, Rio 2016 Communications Director:

"We have been in touch with the German Sailing Federation. the quote of the athlete (sailor Erik Heil) saying that the bacteria came from the Guanabara Bay was said before the final exams. We now know that the bacteria could have come from the bay, but also could have come from different sources. That's not the point. The point is that we need to deliver clean waters for competition in the bay. We need to treat 80 per cent of the sewage that goes into the bay. This is going to be done. We are going to be working until the day of the event to make sure that the competition is set in clean waters and nothing in the water can interfere in the result of the competition."

SOUNDBITE (English) Sabine Krapf, Head of Olympic Games Unit at German Olympic Sports Confederation:

"It's difficult to evaluate. The water quality in other venues is not always 100 per cent. But you have to ensure that there's no risk for the personal health of an athlete. And I think it's just legal for the athletes to request best conditions and to secure their health. They will not boycott the Games or whatever, but they just want to really emphasise and point on this issue how much important it is to not get any health risk. And I think this is just completely understandable."

SOUNDBITE (English) Sabine Krapf, Head of Olympic Games Unit at German Olympic Sports Confederation:

"We actually have a medical commission and we are dealing with these issues with experienced people - doctors, physical therapists - and we are starting now to really focus on this issue to give the best circumstances and preparations. But we still have time. That's why test events are so much important prior to the Games, to see what can be improved until the Games time."
