Mayweather arrives in Vegas for final fight

Thursday, September 10 2015 by SNTV
  • Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. makes his 'Grand Arrival' in Las Vegas ahead of his final bout against fellow American Andre Berto.

Script: Floyd Mayweather has arrived in Las Vegas ahead of his final fight, he is so close now to retiring with a perfect record.

SOUNDBITE (English) Floyd Mayweather, WBC and WBA welterweight champion:

(Responding to interviewer congratulating him on his career).

"It's not over yet. We've still got 36 minutes to perform. Andre Berto ... rough, tough. He's very very rough, tough, a very tough competitor, and that's why we chose that fight. It really doesn't matter who we fight, they're going to complain. But my job is to go out there and just be the best that I can be, stay focused and stick to the game plan."

SOUNDBITE (English) Andre Berto, former welterweight world champion:

(Question: How do you feel right now being Mayweather's last and final opponent, and the fact that you can change history on Saturday night?)
"I feel amazing man. I had a tremendous training camp, I have a tremendous team. I'm focused, I'm in shape like I haven't been in years. And I'm ready to put on a show for the people, and I'm looking forward to making history for myself that night."

That seems unlikely, most bookies are offering just one pound for every hundred placed on a Mayweather win. It would be one of if not the biggest shock in boxing history.
