Monday, September 07 2015 by SNTV
  • Australian Matt Hall clinched his maiden Red Bull Air Race victory in Spielberg, Austria on Sunday (6th September).

    Script:

A member of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship circuit since 2009, Matt Hall finally claimed his first win in the event on Sunday.

Hall was second fastest in the round of eight, behind two-time former champion Paul Bonhomme, but the Australian was in supreme form in the final four and recorded a winning mark of 56.851 seconds.

It was only a matter of time until Hall tasted Air Race victory - he had finished second in three of this season's previous five rounds.

Bonhomme had been seeking his fourth win of the year, but had to settle for second place after clocking 56.908 seconds in the final four.

American Kirby Chambliss, who is also a two-time former champion, finished third in 58.291 seconds with Czech pilot Martin Sonka ending up in fourth.

With two rounds to go, Bonhomme's championship lead has been cut to just five points by Hall, with Hannes Arch remaining third despite a tenth place finish in his home round.
