Although there's no Premier League football happening this weekend, there was no rest for referee Mike Dean.

He swapped his whistle and cards for Ladies European Tour scorecard as he caddied in the Ladies Helsingborg Open in Sweden.

A big fan of the women's game, Dean contacted the Ladies European Tour to see if he could act as a caddy.

He's since forged an effective partnership with Sophie Walker, making the cut in the Ladies European Masters in England.

But what's the secret to their success?

The tournament in Sweden is the first time Dean has used a yardage book, but clearly has the knack for it - the pair making the cut in Sweden.

Dean regularly paces out 10 yards for defenders at free-kicks, and that experience appears to have been useful.

The Merseysider has a handicap of five, and claims to be the best golfer amongst his fellow referees.

He may take up full-time caddying after he has finished top-flight refereeing.
