Monday, August 31 2015 by SNTV
  • England women defeat the Netherlands via a shootout to claim the EuroHockey 2015 Gold Medal, while Germany ran riot with a 5-1 win over Spain in the bronze medal match.

    Script:

England 's women were deadlocked at 0-0 until the third quarter of their EuroHockey final match, until a Caia van Maasakker double put the Netherlands 2-0 up.

But with their opponents down to ten players England struck back.

    First through Sophie Bray.

    And then through Lily Owsley.

With the game forced into a shootout, Bray gave England a health 3-0 lead, piling the pressure on the Dutch team.

Eva de Goede knew she must score, but she failed to do so.

With that England were gold medal winners.

And in the Bronze medal fixture Germany crushed Spain five goals to one.
