Ajax right winger Anwar El Ghazi was the hero after bagging a brace and making an assist in the title chasers' 4-0 thrashing of Den Haag.

The 20-year-old is renowned for his pace but his start to the new season is quick even by his standards. Becoming the first player to net six Eredivisie goals in a month since ex-Ajax forward Marko Pantelic five years ago.

Frank de Boer's side took the lead when Den Haag switched off from a throw-in and El Ghazi slotted home cooly after Davy Klaassen's cut-back.

El Ghazi then turned provider and captain Klaassen took his turn to score. Trading places indeed.

The visitors' slack defending continued into the second half. Centre-back Joël Veltman heading home from summer signing Nemanja Gudelj's centre.

Before Arkadiusz Milik rounded Martin Hansen and El Ghazi capped a resounding victory.

That's four wins and four Eredivisie clean sheets for Ajax. The last time they began that well? Louis van Gaal's '95/'96 vintage who went on to win the division and come second in the Champions League.
