"You can imagine that it has been a really emotional period for everyone involved and, again, I wanted to point out that it's one of those moments that the football authorities need to act. We cannot allow to leave our players in these situations to be so exposed. Of course, as a player, you need to - you have your human side and you need to think about the future and your career and there are moments for that but then there are other moments when the competition is well under way and you have official games. It is disrespectful to fans to have that instability around your team. So I think the football authorities need to take note and they shouldn't allow that to happen any more."

"He will be because he is at the perfect football club and in the perfect environment. Of course the fans at one point thought they were going to lose one of the most-loved assets that we have at the football club and the emotions are going to be high and you're going to be full of feelings that you are going to show. What is clear now the chairman was really strong yesterday. I think he put things very, very clearly. John knows where he is. The fans, they're going to play an incredible role in helping John to settle in and to get back to being fully focussed on winning football games for Everton and we are the perfect environment and the perfect place, as we have been in the last two seasons, for John and we all need to become a winning team and make sure that we are delighted to have John with us."
