  • SuggestedLeadIn: Dafne Schippers completed an incredible switch from heptathlete to sprinter by winning the 200-metre world title at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing on Friday (28th August).

Script: There were a number of notable finals on day seven of the World Athletics Championships.

We kick start the action with the women's 200m final, Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands, who won the bronze in heptathlon two years ago in Moscow impressed in Beijing.

She secured gold and beat a 28-year-old championship record by .11 of second in the process, crossing the finish line in 21.63 seconds.

In the men's 110m hurdles, world-record holder Aries Merritt took, this despite the fact he will fly home for a kidney transplant following the event.

Sergei Shubenkov of Russia secured gold, while Hansle Parchment of Jamaica took bronze.

In the women's 110m hurdles on the other hand, defending champion Brianna Rollins knocked over the first hurdle and never recorvered.

Danielle Williams gave Jamaica gold as she picked up speed in the second half of the sprint to breeze past Cindy Rodeler of Germany.

In the long jump, Tianna Bartoletta won her second world title, ten years after her first.

The American only took the lead on her final attempt of the evening as she leaped 7.14 metres to secure gold.

That was enough to see off Great Britain's Shara Proctor, who cleared 7.07, while Ivana Spanovic ended in third jumping 7.01 metres.

Finally there was still time for a lighthearted moment during the medals ceremony.

Usain Bolt received his gold for the 200m victory, in addition to an apology from the cameraman who knocked him over following his win.

He was offered a friendship bracelet by the cameraman who was far away from his segway on this occasion.
