Nadal: I'd be 'arrogant' to think I'll win US Open

  • SuggestedLeadIn: Two-time US Open champion Rafa Nadal speaks to SNTV in New York ahead of the tournament.

    Script: SOUNDBITE (English) Rafael Nadal:

"It is great to be back. When you miss a tournament like I missed it last year, it's tough. Missing big events are tough moments because a tennis career is not that long, so every time you cannot play in a big event is an opportunity lost. So it's great to be back, good feelings being back to New York. I enjoy a lot this city, I feel comfortable in this city, I feel comfortable in the U.S. Open. I hope to be ready for the action next week.

"I would be arrogant if I said I feel ready for the title now, after not having a great season. So I don't want to say that. I say, I am looking at every day, I am working hard every day, I know I am playing better and I am feeling better mentally than a few months ago. Then, I need results. And if the results arrive, I feel closer than ever during the season to be where I want to be.

"I think nobody did, nobody did ever win ten years in a row minimum one Grand Slam, so it's something that I am proud of. It remains one for this year. I don't know if I will be able to keep saving this record but anyway, win ten years in a row minimum a Grand Slam is something amazing and I am happy with."
