Racing fans have been paying tribute after the British driver died from injuries sustained at a race this weekend. Wilson was struck by debris as another car hit a concrete barrier at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.

The 37-year-old was airlifted to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead the following day.

Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton said Wilson was motor racing's ultimate gentleman. 2009 World champion Jenson Button raced with Wilson in F1 as well as karting as far back as 1989. He said his smile was infectious, such a lovely guy.
