Reaction from Jos Buttler and Peter Siddle following day three of the final Ashes Test at the Oval where Australia lead by 129 runs with England on 203 for six wickets.

"The great British weather may come and give us some help but yes it is disappointing to lose Alastair (Cook) at the end of the day after batting so well for such a long period of time. I think at the start of the day we said we wanted to show some character and put up a fight after having had a very poor day the day before. I think we did that and the captain lead from the front and showed that. Any time you pull on an England shirt you keep scrapping and we'll do that until the end."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jos Buttler, England wicketkeeper (on the team's approach to the Oval test):

"It's had a different feel to the game I think the high of Trent Bridge and that emotion of winning the series, there are a lot of young guys in the side, that was such an amazing feeling. And then 10 days riding on the back of that. We spoke that we wanted to win 4-1, maybe we got a bit caught up in that as oppose to actually focusing on what we've done well to get the end results. It's disappointing the way we've played here. But we have won the Ashes and no one can take that away from us no matter how badly we play in this game."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Peter Siddle, Australia fast bowler (on whether he feels he could have made a difference in earlier tests):

"Can't really worry too much about the past. It is what it is. I think now we just have to worry about tomorrow. Turn up tomorrow, hopefully get some sun and get these wickets as quickly as we can. I think if you worry too much about the past you can't move forward. That's what I've done, just keep working hard and I was lucky to get an opportunity here."
