SuggestedLeadIn: England's David Horsey set a new course record to lead after day one of the Made in Denmark tournament on Thursday (20 August).
Script: Sunshine and very little wind made for perfect conditions at the Himmerland Golf Resort for the second year of the Made in Denmark tournament.
Home hero Thomas Bjorn shooting a 2-under-par round of 69 including a birdie at the 16th was met with huge applause by the home crowd.
Fellow Dane Soren Kjeldsen was equally popular with the fans as he began his challenge with an opening round of 66.
He was in celebratory mood as he marked 500 European Tour starts with a specially made cake.
Scot Paul Lawrie went one better than Kjelsden with a bogey-free round of 65.
A stunning late run of scoring from European Tour rookie Oliver Farr catapulted the Welshman up the leaderboard to finish with a score of 64.
He's a shot behind David Horsey. The Englishman set a new course record with a sparkling round of 63 and threatened to make the first 59 in Tour history when he birdied the second to sit eight under with seven to play.
But the three-time European Tour winner's hopes took a major dent with a bogey on the fifth and when an eagle putt on the sixth failed to break, the chance was gone.
He leads going into round two.
