Script: With 355 days to go, the Rio 2016 Organising Committee held another day of test events in the city.

The Aquece Rio International Road Cycling Challenge was held on Sunday to test the city's ability to close several streets and still be functional.

France's Alex Vuilloz was the victor of the test track, which was actually 100km shorter than the Olympic one next year - but this did not mean it was any less challenging.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Winner of Road Cycling challenge, France's Alexis Vuillermoz

"Today the track is very difficult with stiff climbs and technical downhills. It's a very complete course. To take the win today you need to be adaptative rider (a rider who needs to adapt) so it's important to work the flat part, climb and sprint because it could be a little sprint between two or three riders."

The track reduction from 260 to 160 kilometres was actually due to upcoming nationwide protests demanding the removal of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff from power, and will be held at the famed Copacabana beach, which incidentally is where the Olympic start and finish lines are located.

The Rio Olympics are due to commence on the 5th August next year.
