-
Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews spoke in Galle on Tuesday (11th August) ahead of the first Test against India with Kumar Sangakkara playing his last Test series.
"We are really thankful for Sangakkara, the way he has performed over the last 15 years and easily the most consistent batsman I have ever seen. I haven't seen the great Donald Bradman but easily the most consistent batsman I've ever seen and we've learnt a lot up till now and he's always willing to teach us and give us his experience. And we've benefitted a lot from Sangakkara.
"India is in the same transition as we did now. They've had the likes of Dhoni, they've had the likes of Sachin (Tendulkar), Rahul (Dravid) over the past years and now it's up to Virat (Kohli) to take responsibility and groom those young players."
"We do have a lot of pressure to win and we play to win. We give the best chance for us to win and we would like to play positive and aggressive cricket regardless of winning and losing. If we do our processes right, I am sure that we can beat any team, so we are just looking forward to playing positive aggressive cricket and, if we do our processes right I'm sure we'll all come at the Indians.
