Hannah Burke wins first European title

Monday, August 10 2015 by SNTV
  • England's Hannah Burke shot a final round seven-under-par 64 on Sunday (9th August) to win the Pilsen Golf Masters by two strokes and clinch her first Ladies European Tour title.

Hannah Burke was in unchartered territory going for a maiden European title in the Czech Republic.

The 27-year-old from Welwyn Garden City was in a tie for the lead going into the final round.

And a 64 on Sunday gave Burke her first ever title.

Burke holed for birdie here at 17 to take a one shot lead going down the last.

She finished for a par on the last to win by one from Wales's Becky Morgan and improves on her second place finish at last year's Indian Open.

Despite this being her first win, Burke felt this win was coming...

"I've had a couple of really good weeks building up to this - I played well in Scotland an then had a good week last week at the Open. The game's just been in good shape so it's been there, it's just how it falls into place sometimes and the putts dropped today so, yeah, I came out on top."

"Yeah, definitely so. I started the year really struggling with the putter out in Australia and then again Morocco all the way through to Turkey and kind of changed my coach, got a new coach, and we rebuilt my putting style - changed left below right - just mixed it up really. Suddenly I've got the putts rolling and the confidence has come with that the past couple of weeks and I think it's all just tied in together nicely, yeah."
