  • The home fans got to see a local winner at the FIM Danish Speedway Grand Prix on Saturday (8th August) as Peter Kildemand took the honours in Horsens.

Peter Kildemand had the local fans cheering at his home Grand Prix in Horsens.

The Dane was sitting in 15th place in the overall standings heading into the meet, but gave his difficult season a boost with a semi-final win before backing it up in the final.

There was a moment of concern for Kildemand in the decider though when defending champion Tai Woffinden unsettled him and sent him crashing out.

Woffinden was excluded from the final for the incident but the English rider appologised to Kildemand before racing restarted.

Kildemand didn't let the incident distract him though, taking out the final ahead of Matej Zagar of the Czech Republic. Countryman Michael Jepsen Jensen rounded out the top three.

Even with the exclusion from the final, Woffinden was able to extend his lead at the top of the World Championship to 13 points clear of another Danish rider - Nicki Pedersen.
