  • Jim Furyk shot a four-under par 66 at the second round of the World Gold Championships Bridgestone Invitational on Friday (7th August) to top the overall leaderboard at eight-under par.

SOUNDBITE: Jim Furyk, 8-under after two rounds
"Well I felt a little better about my round today, I thought I hit the ball better, drove it better, hit some more good iron shots. I made some mistakes but it's a golf course, so I think that's going to happen. What I'm real happy about is I was able to make six birdies yesterday and seven today, so I feel good about my game. The golf course is playing tough and I expect the greens - I'm seeing today that they're not retaining the moisture like they were yesterday afternoon. These guys are going to see a little firmer greens than I did yesterday afternoon and that would continue for the weekend. And, you know, with firm greens it's always tough to make birdies and get the ball close, so the golf course will play a little tougher I think."

SOUNDBITE Henrik Stenson, 3-under after two rounds:
"It's not an easy golf course, even though Jim (Furyk) made it look easy at times there, he was kind of leaving everyone behind, at least the morning groups. He played really solid and I played good myself, and yeah I'm quite happy with the progress I made in the last week here before coming into the event."

SOUNDBITE Graeme McDowell, 3-under after two rounds
"Yeah it was tricky and the wind was gusting and I was sort of switching it around a little bit. It was a funny game, a funny round, that today, because the first nine holes, which was the back nine, I didn't play very well, but I hung in there like a bear. And then the second nine holes I actually started to play better and I made a couple of silly mistakes. You know, I made six from eagle position on two."

SOUNDBITE Lee Westwood, 2-under after two rounds
"Certainly on the front nine the greens were a little bit more receptive, just because we were out earlier. But certainly by the time we got to the, sort of, second and third holes the greens were starting to firm up and you weren't getting that zip off the greens, so it's imperative to hit the fairways really, to make scoring a bit easier."
