Johnson: "Edgbaston is must win for Australia"

Wednesday, August 05 2015 by SNTV
  • Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson said his team-mates have bounced back from the loss at Edgbaston that leaves the fourth Ashes Test against England as a "must-win" contest.

SOUNDBITE Mitchell Johnson, Australia fast bowler:

"The mood is good. I think the mood throughout the whole tour has been good. It has been good throughout the last couple days. The good thing about our team is we've been able to reflect on the last game very quickly and talk about it and then move on. It's really important in the situation we are in. We need to win this game, it's a must win for us if we want to win this series. The boys have moved on from the last Test, hopefully we've been able to learn from that and come out here and play some really good cricket."

SOUNDBITE (English) Mitchell Johnson, Australia fast bowler:

(On the absence of bowler Jimmy Anderson in the England team).

"It's a massive loss for them that's for sure. They have to bring somebody else in that has to match him so it's going to be pretty difficult to do. They will miss him, but they are on a high as well. They'll keep riding that high for sure. Steve Finn has come back and bowled really well from being away from the game for awhile. It looks like he has sorted out a few things so whoever they bring in there'll be pressure on them. They're playing good cricket so I'm sure they'll be fine."

SOUNDBITE (English) Mitchell Johnson, Australia fast bowler:

    (On captain Michael Clarke's batting).

"Everyone supports him 100 per cent, it's not just the last couple days he's always doing that extra work it's the things behind the scenes that everyone doesn't see. He's definitely got our support 100 per cent, he's captained the team really well. He's got that aggressive approach from my point of view I really enjoy. We want him to be scoring runs there's no doubt about that. He wants to be scoring runs and even put his hand up from that last game. He's really eager to get out there and score runs this Test and I've got a feeling that he will. If he scores runs we are going to win this Test."
