Winter in Rio de Janerio as the Olympics triathlon had it's dress rehearsal ahead of next year's Games.

Much has been made of the quality of the Rio water, yet it looked in perfect condition on Sunday as the competitors started off from Copacabana beach.

The No.1 in the women's rankings - Gwen Jorgensen - led the way from the waters.

She trailed momentarily on the road, yet the American made her move and won the event at a canter.

Britons Non Stanford and Vix Holland took silver and bronze respectively, although Team GB still require one more podium finish to qualify for Rio 2016.

The men's event followed the same format off the city's most famous beach.

South African Richard Murray led on the bikes, before Spaniard Javier Gomez Noya chased down Frenchman Vincent Luis for victory.

Murray took bronze, just piping Alistair Brownlee for a podium position.
