With the sun shining and the water looking inviting, eighty-six thousand spectators were at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregan for the Red Bull Flugtag event.

Forty-one teams all attempting human powered flight, with various degrees of success.

Teams are not only judged on flight distance but on creativity and showmanship.

And their crafts need to be less than 30 feet wide and weigh no more than 400 pounds - including the pilot.

The overall winner, I Dream of Jeannie, soared out to 84 feet.

SOUNBITE: "I did think we should break 100 feet, so, and we did basically... I had one skip at 85 and then we went 100 - that was what I was shooting for, I was shooting for 100 feet"

And they were't the only team to add a bit of paragliding into the mix.
