Dominic Thiem beat David Goffin in straight sets to win the Gstaad Open in Switzerland on Sunday (2nd August).

    Script:

It was David Goffin against Dominic Thiem in the final of the Gstaad Open.

Goffin entered the match as the top seed, but 21 year old Thiem has been impressive in his march to the final - knocking out Feliciano Lopez in the semis.

And the Austrian was hopeful of continuing his run against the world number 14.

Thiem certainly started in excellent fashion as he broke the Belgian in the third game of the first set.

But Goffin refused to lie down and hit back with a break of his own to level the set in the 7th game.

In fact, the top seed turned the set on its, giving himself a chance to serve for the set, but the Austrian showed why he's been in the tourament's most in-form player.

He found the break and then manage to secure the opening set 7-5, much to Goffin's frustration.

The Belgian looked to have regained his composure almost immediately when he broke Thiem in the opening game of the second set.

But that was as good as it got for Goffin, the Austrian was in inspired form, following his title win in Croatia a week ago.

The Austrian racing away from his opponent who struggled with 37 unforced errors on the day.

A straight sets win 7-5 6-2 ensuring Thiem's breakthrough season continues, the Gstaad Open is the Austrian's third title of 2015.
