    Script:

It was an all-American semi-final at the Atlanta Open on Saturday, as the top seed and defending champion John Isner took on Denis Kudla - a regular practice partner.

75 places in the ATP ranking separate the pair, but Kudla was in no mood to let Isner advance without a fight, breaking his serve in the opener, to take it 6-4

But Isner retaliated, twice breaking his oppenent's serve in the second.

And in the third set, Kudla's nerve finally faltered and he put a backhand wide to concede the match 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Marcos Baghdatis and Gilles Muller were facing each other for the first time in their careers, when they met in the second semi-final.

In a tight first set, it was Muller who prevailed playing the key points of the tie break strongly and taking it 7-4.

But Baghdatis seemed undaunted and raced to a 3-0 lead in the second. He took advantage of Muller's faltering serve to force a decider.

Baghdatis broke in the third game but Muller broke back to force a tie break.

Muller broke back and the set culminated in another tie break.

The momentum was with Baghdatis as as Muller sent his return wide on match point.

Baghdais will now face John Isner in the final.
