SOUNDBITE: (English) Dick Pound, Former WADA Chief and IOC Member, on Beijing's success to host the 2022 Winter Olympics

"Well, they were both very good bids. And as you can tell, they were so equal in the voting that it was clear that members had personal choices and Beijing happened to win. But you could have made a case for either one."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Dick Pound, Former WADA Chief and IOC Member, on the validity of Beijing's claims of getting 300 million people to be involved in winter sports

"Hard to tell but it's an impressive number you know, when you think of how many countries in the world don't have anywhere close to 300 million people, and they're just talking about extra Chinese practising winter sports. So that could be a major legacy for winter sports."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Dick Pound, Former WADA Chief and IOC Member, on whether the 300 million people number is decisive factor in Beijing clinching the 2022 Winter Olympics

"No, because only China can have that kind of a particular legacy whereas the Kazakhstan one, new country, traditional winter venues and so on and it'll always be confined to major cities for winter games in particular."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Dick Pound, Former WADA Chief and IOC Member, on Beijing being the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics

"I mean there are very few cities that can make that claim and frankly a lot of these events are not going to be in Beijing."
