"I'm glad that I don't have to play more today at least. I don't know what the weather is going to be like in the next couple of days. It was tough but I tried to grind it out."

Q. Could you explain the round and how tough it was in those conditions?
"I made an early bogey. And then when I made a bogey a couple of holes later I made birdie. I ended up even par and then made three bogeys in a row and then I came off with two birdies in a row. That kind of summed up my one-over."

Q. Just after the round, I saw you speaking to David (Leadbetter) just as you came off. He looked pretty pleased with how it all went.
"I definitely know that it could have been much worse. In that wind and with the long fescue - you can get some high numbers. I tried to limit my mistakes. It would have been better if I had limited them more. But it was tough out there and I tried my best."
SOUNDBITE (English) Mika Miyazato, 4-under
"I'm tired right now. Because the rain and the wind is so much."
Difficult weather conditions?
"It's not difficult. It's just the British Open is like that always."
