With the final Grand Slam of the season getting underway at Flushing Meadows in a month's time, players are getting the necessary preparation under their belts.

Despite the US Open being a hard court tournament, Tomas Bellucci took on Pablo Andujar on the clay of Gstaad.

Only ten places separate the pair in the world rankings, but it was Andujar that got out of the blocks quickest securing the opening set.

Bellucci fired back however, and secured the second set 6-4.

And the world number 39 never looked back as he blew the Spaniard away in the decisive third set to take the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 and book his place in the last four.

He can now look ahead to a semi-final encounter with David Goffin of Belgium, after the 24-year-old overcame Joao Sousa in a tough match.

The Portuguese secured the opening set on a tie-break but was unable to carry his momentum into the second set.

Goffin finding a break a taking it 6-4 to push a third set.

The two pushed each to a tie-break for the second time in the match, with the Belgian getting the better on this occasion and advancing.

Finally Dominic Thiem was also made to work for his semi-final berth against Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain.

The Austrian won the first set 6-4 but could do nothing as his opponent came back to win the second 6-3.

The 21-year-old held his nerve and closed out the match in the third to ensure he progresses to the last four where he will face Feliciano Lopez.
