"I think this is one of the best competitions to compete at. Today I had a lot of fun out there competing. This crowd is amazing. I always love coming back here, this is my third time competing here so I would like to give big ups to the London crowd for coming out and supporting us. Us athletes do appreciate it so much."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Valerie Adams, shot put (on the comeback from injury)

"Do you know, I think the first two competitions it was hard. It was hard for me because it was almost like an unknown territory. For five years I've been dominant in this event and this is a very unknown territory for me to be lagging behind. But in saying that, I think there comes a time when you have to be realistic about situations and I'm not a robot, I thought I was. I thought I was made out of metal and I could just press a button and off I go, but at the end of the day, I'm human and my body has had a good beating from me for the last 15 years I think. I've had a good innings out of it. I've had two Olympic Championships (gold medals) and four World Championships. Not that I'm saying I'm at the end of it, but I'm saying that I have put it under stress and I've got to acknowledge the fact that it's going to tell me to piss off sometimes. So I am looking forward to next year. I'm going to try and make sure that my body is in it's best shape heading into next years Olympic Games and we'll go from there."
