Janowicz, Mayer and Ramos-Vinolas through to next round

Tuesday, July 28 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Albert Ramos-Vinolas beats Nicolas Almagro in straight sets

    Script:

First day at the Hamburg Open where Rafa Nadal is the top seed of the tournament.

It will be the Spaniard's first appearance since crashing out early in shock fashion at Wimbledon.

However he won't take to the court until Tuesday.

Monday was the turn of home favourite Florian Mayer, the German was forced to recover from a set down to beat Albert Montanes.

A double fault by Montanes eventually gifting the final set to Mayer who won 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, to clinch his spot in the next round.

It proved to be a more straight-forward day for Jerzy Janowicz.

The big serving Pole overcame the American-born Japanese Taro Daniel in straight sets.

Nicolas Almagro on the other hand failed to go past the first round in Hamburg as he lost out to Albert Ramos-Vinolas in an all-Spanish encounter.

The former world number nine, now number 135, lost in striaght sets to the world number 57, 6-4, 7-6.

All eyes will be on Rafa Nadal on day two as he takes to the court against another Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.
