Team Mark VDS win in Spa-Francorchamps for their very first win on the circuit on Sunday (26th July).

Script:

The latest round of the 24 hours Endurance race took place in Belgium from Saturday into Sunday.

Torrential rain greeted the drivers at the start of the 67th running of this iconic race, and ensured that there was plenty of drama from the get-go. 

An early crash from Gilles Duqueine (#90 Duqueine Engineering Ferrari) brought out the first safety-car after he hit the barriers at the end of the Kemmel straight causing substantial damage to his car. 

The second safety car was deployed just 45 minutes into the race after a cash from Karim Ojjeh (#15 Boutsen Ginion BMW), and the intervention gave several of the top drivers an opportunity for their first pit-stop. 

Rene Rast (#1 Audi Sport Team WRT) took the lead of the race when the safety car returned to the pitlane, with 22 hours and 18 minutes remaining. 

Two new lengthy safety car interventions - and a full course yellow situation - all due to the rain, ensured that it was (#1 Audi Sport Team WRT) who were in the lead after five hours. 

After the rain stopped, some cars including #46 BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS, changed to dry weather tyres too early costing them some places.

When Rene Rast (#1 Audi Sport Team WRT) crashed just before the six hour mark, several other contenders were able to take full advantage. 

After a full night of racing BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS (#46) car managed to take the lead of the race, with just under 5h30 of the race remaining. 

The car steadily increased its lead over the Audi Sport Team WRT's #2 car with #99 Rowe Racing Mercedes SLS a lap behind in third place.
Nick Catsburg, Lucas Luhr, and Markus Palttala held on to take the win.
