Script:
Danny Willett bounced back from a disappointing end to the Open Championship by winning the European Masters in Crans-sur-Sierre.
The Englishman sat in second place after two rounds at St. Andrews before his challenge for a maiden major title faltered over the closing 36 holes on the way to a joint sixth place finish.
However, Willett sealed his third European Tour title, finishing one stroke ahead of compatriot Matthew Fitzpatrick on 17-under-par.
Willett's eight-under-par second round of 62 on Friday paved the way to victory.
On Sunday, he hit four birdies before the turn, followed by an eagle at the 14th.
Despite two bogeys on the back nine, Willett carded a five-under-par closing round 65.
Fitzpatrick finished his weekend with a four-under 66.
The 20-year-old closed to within a shot of the lead with back-to-back birdies on the14th and 15th, but could only manage par on the final three holes.
