Dina Asher-Smith became the first British female to dip under 11 seconds in the 100m with a brilliant 10.99 to win her heat at the Anniversary Games.

The 19-year-old bettered her previous British record by 0.03 seconds and went on to finish fourth in the final in 11.06.

Dutchwoman Dafne Schippers took victory in a national record 10.92 at London's Olympic Stadium.

David Rudisha's 800m world record on this track was one of the memorable moments of the 2012 London Olympics but the Kenyan chose not to front-run here and it proved costly.

Commonwealth champion Nijel Amos piping Rudisha to the line by 0.10 seconds to prevail in 1:44.57.

Overall it's been a successful two days for Team GB athletes before the squad for August's World Championships is announced next week.

Britain's Mo Farah clocked the fastest time in the world this year in the 3,000m with seven minutes 34.66.

While 20-year-old Anguilla-born sprinter Zharnel Hughes produced a stunning personal best of 20.05 to win the men's 200m in a time that only two Britons - John Regis and Adam Gemili - have bettered.
