Juan Mata and Memphis Depay scored five minutes apart in the first half, and Manchester United beat the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1 in their International Champions Cup match on Tuesday (21 July) at Levi's Stadium, California.

    Script:

Manchester United took on Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes in the International Champions Cup in California.

The Red Devil's boss Luis Van Gaal put out a strong side for the game.

And Spaniard Juan Mata gave United a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.

Mata dribbled into the box unchallenged; his effort striking the post before finding the back of the net.

Just five minutes later it was 2-0. New signing Memphis Depay latched onto a poor pass by a San Jose defender and clinically finished into the bottom right corner for his first goal as a United player.

But San Jose pulled one back before half time, Fatai Alashe sliding in to finish after Shea Salinas cut back.

But there would be no comeback, Brazilian Andreas Pereira adding United's third with a header he couldn't miss, from Jesse Lingard's cross in the 61st minute.

Thats how it ended. 3-1 the final score.
