Englishman Gary Hunt recorded his fifth successive win in the Cliff Diving World Series with victory in Portugal.

The reigning World Series champion achieved 471.80 points on Saturday to secure top spot and leap to a total of 1,000 points at the top of the overall standings.

Hunt recovering from a poor first day of competition on Friday which left him stranded in 12th.

The 31-year-old says he's enjoying his rich vein of form:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Hunt, (Q: It's your fifth win in a row, how can your rivals beat you when you're in this kind of form?)

"It feels great being five times on the podium. For the others, they just need to keep working hard I guess. I mean when you're on a role you take that confidence with you and bring it to the next stop. So it's definitely going to be tough and I'm not going to make it easy for them."

Jonathan Paredes was 21 points further back in second; the Mexican's best performance this season.

While American Andy Jones took third place to stand on the podium for the first time in 16 attempts.

Monday's stop 4 takes the cliff diving elite to the most northerly point in the World Series: Denmark's capital Copenhagen.
