"Obviously when you end up coming in in a position like that, when you lose three wickets quite quickly, you're going to get opportunities to score because they're going to have aggressive fields and it could have gone completely the other way and got out first ball, second ball or whatever it was, and then you look a bit silly. Fortunately, I had that fortune today and I could cash in and make the most of it.

"Yeah, it's obviously nice to get out there especially so early in the series and make a big score but, look, the most important thing is that we get wins. We want to win back the Ashes. It's all right having one good day, it's about backing that up now, not just throughout this game and throughout the next four days, but throughout the series as well. I'm sure that it's going to be a really good contest and, as you've seen today, it's going to be a really interesting series.

"I think the very pleasing thing is we've got to the position we have at the minute and hopefully we can build on it in the morning. To look too far ahead would be a bit silly really and we're in the position we are and it's very key that tomorrow morning we build on it and we try and get as close to 400...as far past it as possible if there's a chance to do so."
