  • Intro:

England's James Anderson and Australia's Adam Voges look ahead to the first Ashes Test - which starts on Wednesday in Cardiff.

    Script:

How far have England come? We're very close now to finding that out as the first Ashes test match gets underway in Cardiff on Wednesday. England have embraced attacking cricket and their confident of keeping that under control even against their fiecest rivals.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) James Anderson:

"I think naturally we've got aggressive players in our team. We're obviously trying to win a game of cricket. Like I said our main focus is going to be on our skills and trying to out-skill the Australians."

Home advantage will help but the Aussies have some local knowledge too, the captain of Middlesex.

    SOUNDBITE (English) Adam Voges:

"The fact that I've played on all the grounds we'll be playing on, I've played all the guys that are in the England squad, so from that point of view I hope to be able to give some insight to Michael Clarke (captain) and Steve Smith (vice-captain). I just want to help out wherever I can, along with myself and Chris Rogers we've got some good experience over here (England) - so hopefully that'll help."

Going behind enemy lines has been a theme in the run-up to this series, England have picked Australian Trevor Bayliss as their new coach.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) James Anderson:

"I think all the guys have taken to Trevor (Bayliss) really well. Very laid-back guy, which I think is good for the team that we've got at the moment, and all he's going to try to do is take pressure away from us which is great."
So Jimmy and co appear relaxed but they know that England's brave new dawn is about to face it's ultimate test.
