Huge crowds of fans gathered across the United States on Sunday to watch the Women's World Cup final.

The USA beat Japan 5-2, in Vancouver and their early goals sent fans into a frenzy.

Carli Lloyd gave the American's the lead in only the 3rd minute of the match, and added a second two minutes later.

Lauren Holiday made it 3-0 in the 14th minute, before Lloyd, unbelievably from the halfway line, finished off her hat-trick in the 16th minute. The first in a Women's World Cup final.

Japan made it 4-2 with goals in the 27th and 52nd minutes, but the US put the game out of reach with a quick response in the 54th.

The seven goal thriller is the highest ever scoring women's final, and it's safe to say the fans enjoyed it.

SOUNDBITE (English), Logan Davis, soccer fan:
"So the first goal was kind of a surprise. And the second one was kind of like 'Wow. Did that just happen?' But then they put all these other goals in and it's, to be honest, a little bit nerve-racking."

SOUNDBITE (English), Stefania Rudd, soccer fan:
"It's super fast-paced. People always complain that it's slow or it's boring or that no one scores. And immediately, right off the bat, it was bam, bam, bam and bam. Oh, it was just so exciting just to see that."

The USA are now the first nation to win the Women's World Cup three times. They also won in 1991 and 1999.
