The president of Canada Soccer, Victor Montagliani, and Fifa's head of women's football, Tatjana Haenni, says 'it doesn't matter' that Fifa president Sepp Blatter will miss Sunday's Women's World Cup final between the USA and Japan. The general secretary of Canada Soccer, Peter Montopoli, also outlines the country's ambition to host a men's World Cup.

"In light of the circumstances the focus needs to be on the two games and the players that are on it. Not suits that run football like myself or anybody else. So I'm happy that the focus is on the two teams that are playing in the final. Whoever wins the Women's World Cup, whether it's me, you or anybody else, I'm not sure they're too bothered by it."

"I think who hands the trophy over and who is present and what kind of dignitaries we have and what kind of politicians is in the stands is maybe for the teams playing at that time and the spectators is not so important."

(on the possibility of hosting the men's World Cup)

"We will have hosted every FIFA major competition - youth, senior, men's, women's except the men's World Cup. So certainly when the bid guidelines come out it's certainly worthwhile and incumbent upon us to take a look at see that there is a potential for our country to host a men's World Cup. We've proved we can be a great host in our country and we'd like to do it again pending the right opportunities and circumstances."
