    FIFPro, the world footballers' union, is to welcome female players as direct members in a bid to fight inequality in the sport, Caroline Jonsson, head of FIFPro's women's football committee, says.

    "The natural grass and turf question led by Abby Wambach was important because it highlighted the need of a common voice in the global environment that FIFPro is active in. So that's why it's now and that's why we've had this press conference."

    "The turf natural grass was the tipping point a little bit, but for FIFPro we also want to work proactively. We want to have a dialogue with all the partners and stockholders in football in an early phase. We want to avoid situations like this and solve them before they become a problem."
