Tim Cahill's third league goal of the season assured Shanghai Shenhua of all three points at home against Guangzhou R&F

Shanghai Shenhua were languishing in 11th position in the Chinese Super League going into their Round 17 clash at home to Guangzhou R&F.

The home side dominated proceedings early on and had a great chance to score on 13 minutes, but Tim Cahill's header struck the post.

Shanghai continued their search for the opening goal and had another chance mid way through the second half. 

Once again, it was Cahill who led the attack, but his this time his header was kept out by 'keeper Cheng Yuelei.

The one-way traffic continued, and the goal Shanghai Shenhua had threatened to score eventually came on 75 minutes. 

The ever-present Cahill wasn't going to be denied this time and he put away the cross from Lu Zheng to give the home side the advantage.

Cahill's third league goal of the season handed Shanghai their sixth win of the Super League season and moves them up to seventh place in the standings with 22 points.
